H2O+

I have some great news to share.

Remember how I was planning to try different types of lotion for my face because I was running low? Well, I finally ran out of the one I was using - OHUI. Coincidentally, my sister recently discovered this awesome lotion called “H2O Plus” and I tried it out with my make up routine. It is the most oil-free hydrating lotion I’ve ever put on my face. Amazing! I’ve tried Lancome’s lotion, but it would only hydrate for about a couple of hours. My skin is exceptionally dry during the winter months so it’s been really frustrating, but now my skin will no longer feel or even appear like the Sahara desert. It will be more like an oasis in the desert. H2O+ is a sea-derived skincare system that really infuses the skin with the richest and the best nutrients from the marine ecosystem.

Due to the cold weather making my skin extra dry, my skin also wasn’t receiving my regular make-up routine well. That is, until I discovered Laura Mercier foundation primer and tinted moisturizer through my sister, again (sisters are amazing, btw). Laura Mercier is on the pricier end, but there is a good reason for that-their products are incredible and provide excellent hydration for your skin. With the H2O+ lotion and Laura Mercier’s hydrating foundation primer plus the tinted moisutrizer my skin is set for the winter! Bring on the cold weather!

Growing pains…

A time comes in your life for you to choose either to go to the left or to the right at the fork. The decisions you make in your life now seriously shapes who you will be down the road. How do you make your life-changing decisions? Who do you ask for advice? What factors do you consider? How do you weigh out your pros and cons? Do you pray about it? Do you go with your gut feeling?

I’ve been having to make some significant decisions in my life lately and it’s been so difficult, furstrating, scary, but very rewarding. When making decisions you start to realize what your views are on certain issues and at the same time it forces you to really hash out what you believe in and where you stand. It is indeed a refining process.

I guess this is all part of the growing pains…Yay!

The real reason…

It’s the time of year when everyone is busy thinking of dressed turkeys; black Friday door buster deals; gathering with family and friends; and watching football. Between all the hustle and bustle we forget the real reason for celebrating this holiday. So, I want to take you back to the very first Thanksgiving before football was known to mankind and before businesses created a reason for consumers to shop during unearthly hours.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. But did you know Thanksgiving wasn’t an official national holiday until 1863 in the midst of the Civil War? Yup. You can thank good ole’ honest Abe for that one.

Only about half of the Pilgrims that came aboard the Mayflower made it through the first brutal winter in Massachusetts. Lucky for them they were visited by an Indian from the Abenaki tribe who greeted them in English. Can you imagine their surprise? Thankfully, through a series of unfortunate events, the now famous Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to cultivate corn, extract sap from maple trees, catch fish in the rivers, and much more. Squanto was also key in establishing a healthy relationship between the settlers and the local tribe.

Imagine leaving your motherland and coming to a strange new land with very minimal belongings and supplies and where you truly needed to use your God-given brains to survive. Then about HALF of the people you traveled with die and you too, wonder how long it will be before…well, I for sure can’t imagine going through difficulty like that, but if I had to, I’m sure my first Thanksgiving would be very different from the ones I’ve had so far.

Let’s stop and take a moment this Thanksgiving season to truly be thankful for the Pilgrims and the Indians for getting along, for the leftovers after the huge Thanksgiving meal and for the 70 degree weather we are having to “endure” in the middle of November.
